A monthly meeting of the Pacific Skyline Council Advancement Committee. The committee is comprised of the Council Advancement Chair and the district’s Advancement chairs.
Boy Scout Leaders Basic Training is for any leader involved in Boy Scouts or considering volunteering. Leaders learn about the patrol method. They will also gather ideas and resources for fulfilling their particular role in the troop. Leaders also receive training in the policies and procedures of the Boy Scouts of America.
A monthly meeting for any leader involved in Boy Scouts. This meeting is designed as a tool to help share information and ideas between troops in a district. At this meeting leaders can gather ideas for their troops programs as well as learn about events the district plans to help with camping, training, fundraising and more.
Boy Scout University is a one-day course for any adult leader involved in Boy Scouts. The course will be broken into 45-minute workshops that cover topic such as song leading, Dutch oven cooking, fundraising and much more. Participants will select which workshops they wish to attend.
This monthly meeting helps evaluate the overall camping program of the council.
This is an excellent way to complete the rechartering process. Commissioners are on hand to help units figure out what paper work needs to be completed and total fees.
The Pacific Skyline Council runs a Christmas tree lot each year. The proceeds help fund the council-wide programs so we can continue to offer scouting to youth in our community. Be sure to buy your Christmas tree from us and help our youth. Youth can also earn service hours by volunteering at the Christmas tree lot.
This is a monthly meeting of district commissioners under the direction of the Council Commissioner. This cabinet helps evaluate the health of the districts.
The Pacific Skyline Council Annual Dinner is not only a lot of fun, but our chance to recognize all the hard work that goes into making our council successful. Everyone is invited and this is our chance to say thank you to each other and recognize our new silver beavers.
Cub Day Camp is run in one-week sessions where any Bear, Wolf or Webelos scout can participate. They will work on their requirements while having the time of their lives. While all sessions share the same overall theme, each session’s program varies so the Cub Scout can attend as many as he likes. Sessions do fill up fast so be sure to sign up early.
Cub Ons are a Cub Scout event where parents must volunteer to man program areas. There are opportunities for Cub Scout to work on their requirements and food is provided. Cub Ons take place at the Cutter Scout Reservation.
Cub Resident Camp is an overnight camp for Cub Scouts and their families. During the day the cub joins a den with a staff member as den chief. The den chief takes the den through a planned program day. All program areas are staffed leaving parents free to take part in activities like safe swim defense and more. In the evening the Cubs return to their families for night activities. Camp starts on Thursday evening and ends Sunday at Boulder Creek Scout Reservation.
Cub Scout Leaders Basic Training is for any leader involved with Cub Scouts or considering volunteering. Leaders learn more about the duties and roles of the different positions of the pack. Participant will also gather useful ideas and resources to fulfill their roles. This course provides training in the policy and procedures of cub scouts.
Pow Wow is a one-day course for any adult leader involved in Cub Scouts. The course is broken into 45-minute workshops covering topics such as song leading, craft projects, advancement ceremonies and much more. Participants select which workshops they would like to attend.
A monthly meeting for any leader involved in Cub Scouts. Each month the roundtable will cover the next month program theme. This meeting is designed as a tool to help share information, ideas and resources between packs in a district. At this meeting leaders can gather ideas for their packs programs as well as learn about events the district plans to help with training, fundraising and more.
The Cutter Specialty Weekend is designed to allow an opportunity for troops to utilize Cutter Scout Reservation to work on merit badge requirements or enhance the troop's camping program. Each weekend will have selected program areas open. Troops provide personal to run the program areas.
This training is for Boy Scouts who are interested in becoming Den Chiefs. Den Chiefs assist Den Leaders with their dens. They act as role models and help keep the program fun and exciting to Cub Scouts and keep them interested in transitioning into a troop. Den Chief is a leadership position and counts for rank advancement.
At a camporee troops in a district come together to compete with one another and practice all the skills they have learned in their troop. This weekend event is a lot of fun and an excellent way for the boys of different troops to meet each other.
A monthly meeting where the unit commissioners meet with the district commissioner and assistant district commissioners to evaluate the heath of the packs, troops and crews in the district. Problem solving as well as a compilation of units’ needs occurs to brief the district committee to assist in program planning.
A monthly meeting where the activity, advancement, camping, finance, membership, and training committees of the district develop program and policies to help ensure a quality district and support the packs, troops and crews in the district. The district committee receives a briefing from the District Commissioner to help orientates the districts direction.
Each district plans an annual dinner to recognize the volunteers in their district. There is a lot of fun with skits and such. Sending your unit leaders to the district dinner is an excellent way for the unit to say thank you.
Once a month the key three from each district meets with the Council Vice President of Operations. This meeting is to help coordinate the districts' efforts and help ensure quality programming throughout the council.
A monthly meeting where the district’s village meets to plan and coordinate Order of the Arrow activities.
The District Pinewood Derby is where the Cub Scouts that placed at the top at their pack’s Pinewood Derby get to compete with one another to see who will be the district champion.
This annual dinner is to recognize all those scouts who achieved the rank of Eagle in the last year. Past Eagles are encouraged to attend and sponsor this year's Eagles to show them the path continues ever upwards.
At this monthly meeting the Pacific Skyline Council’s Executive Board determines policies for the council and provides direction for the districts.
This training is for all volunteers involved in exploring. This one-day course covers the basic of program planning as well as policy and standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
A monthly meeting where the status of all council facilities is evaluated, projects designed and funding is discussed.
Our Friends of Scouting Campaign is our annual appeal to help raise funds to continue to offer the Scouting program to the youth of our community.
This is a chance to work on community service with your unit. In connection with Goodwill, units pass out bags then collects used clothing and other useful items to turn into Goodwill. Units earn ribbons and patches while helping their community.
This weeklong course helps train the youth leaders of a troop. Boy Scouts go to Boulder Creek Scout Reservation to learn the skill to help them be effective leaders.
This is a monthly meeting of advisors of Law Enforcement Explorer post. At this meeting advisors share information and ideas for post programs. Advisors also plan and learn about council, regional and national events.
Merit Badge Counselor Training-
The district provides this training for merit badge counselors. This training is designed to train counselors in procedures as well as techniques utilized in working with scouts.
A weekend event designed to challenge and test youths’ scouting skills.
National Order of the Arrow Conclave is held annually at various locations throughout the U.S. This is a gathering of lodges from across the nation.
An opportunity for volunteers to assist in service projects to prepare Camp Oljato for the troops who attend our Summer Camp.
Order of the Arrow Banquet-
This banquet is an annual council event. All Arrowmen are invited to attend this banquet.
At this meeting the Chief and the other Order of the Arrow officers meet to conduct lodge business and make decisions for the Order of Arrow. Although the adult advisors also meet with the youth members, only youth members can vote. All Arrowmen from the lodge are invited to attend.
Ordeals are designed to bring scouting age youth into the Order of the Arrow.
This is an annual training for Arrowmen.
This clinic is designed to help leaders learn more about safety and skills for the outdoors. Participants learn effective ways to lead backpack trips, camping activities and some first aid concerns.
The Popcorn Sale Kick Off is an opportunity for the unit popcorn chair to receive information and training on the council’s popcorn sale. The popcorn sale is an excellent opportunity for units to raise money for themselves. Units attending the kick off receive an additional 3% commission on top of the 40%.
The program committee meets monthly under the direction of the Council Vice President of Program. This committee helps monitor the overall program of the council. It evaluates our activities, training, camping and advancement opportunity.
Scouting for Food is our annual effort to collect food for the Second Harvest Food Bank for the holidays. Each year our units pass out bag then collect them full of food and deliver them to drop off sites around the council. Our youth earn patches will practicing service to their community.
This is a one-day event where all the units in our council can have a booth display and visit other unit’s booth. This is where we show the community at large that scouting is alive and well. It is a lot of fun and units can even earn money by selling tickets to the event.
The Scoutreach committee meets monthly to evaluate the Scoutreach program throughout the council. The committee is comprised of selected Council personnel and the districts Scoutreach Commissioners.
A monthly meeting for any leader involved in Sea Scout Ships. This meeting is designed as tool for ship leaders to gather and share information and ideas to assist the ship in quality programming.
All leaders who are interested in taking their troop or crew on a snow camping trip or outing should attend this course. They will learn about different activities to do as well as safety concerns they may encounter.
The Pacific Skyline Council with the San Mateo County Sheriffs office offers a one week camp to fifth graders to further enhance their DARE program.
This training is for leaders who are interested in becoming involved in staffing our training courses. Here, participants will learn skills and techniques to become effective trainers.
This course is designed for any adult leader involved in Venturing. Participants learn the basic to program planning and working with youth. They will also learn about the policies and standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
This weekend is for any Venture Crew. Venture Crews will come together for a fun weekend where they can meet each other and work on their skills.
This course is designed for any youth leader involved in Venturing. Participants learn how to plan a fun and dynamic program while learning teambuilding skill and more.
This course is for Webelos leaders as well as Bear leaders who are thinking about continuing as a leader. Here participants will learn program ideas to help them in their role as leaders.
This is an open house where Webelos can come and meet the different troops in their area. Here they can ask questions and look at the troops program and style. They are sure to meet a troop that fits their personality.
Wood Badge is advance leadership training for adults who have completed Boy Scout Leader Basic.
Any time there is a meeting involving youth in the Boy Scouts of America at least one leader is required to have Youth Protection Training. It is the Pacific Skyline Council s recommendation that all leaders receive training every two years. This training takes approximately 90 minutes.
