Crows

At our patrol meeting I became assertive against putting portrait photographs on the web. I'd like to share with you why (as some reasons may not be obvious):
Reason 1: www.pacsky.org/scouting/disclaimer.html
Reason 2: From my preliminary ticket:
- ...
- I will offer my services as council webmaster for at least an other 6 months.
The web page is communication in pure form.
I have to know resources of the council to represent them meaningfully. I will need to "knowing the council" to solicitate help from others.
I have to understand the needs of people browsing the web page. There are very different groups of people involved browsing; I will cater them to different degree.
I represent the council in spite of saying that I won't; I will choose information carefully to provide usefull information and not internal information.
I am setting an example to unit webmasters in dealing with information about youth on the internet.
I will keep evaluating the website and fix information which becomes outdated
- ...
I know that we Crows and other critters are adults and some youth protection reasoning doesn't apply. Nevertheless people will see our example and might not see the differences. That is why I think normal web policies should apply to us.
I'm long done with the tickets, but to see further progress for this item: look at What's New.
