ON THE ROPES- IMAGES OF PACK 285 AT FT. MILEY ROPES COURSE
It was a beautiful day in 1999 for the 13 older cub scouts from Pack 285 who went to the Ft. Miley Adventure Ropes Course near the Cliff House in San Francisco. We wanted to challenge ourselves and learn about leadership skills. The ropes course consisted of 6 "elements" which were different challenges located high above the ground. When ever you prepared to do an element, you had to connect yourself to a belay rope. The rope was to catch you if you fell. It was scary looking down Climbing up to the top of a tree or sailing through the air on a zip line were really exciting!!!!!!!
Below is a photo of Ian Tierney, who had climbed to the top of the "Perch" and was attempting the final move. It consisted of jumping from the top of the tree out and touching the ball suspended from a wire. You were then caught by the belay rope and lowered to the ground. And he did it!!!!!
