Cub Scout Pack 6 - Cubmaster Times

 December 1999   Richard Swent

November Pack Meeting

Skit Night was a fantastic meeting! The selection of skits was excellent, and the boys did a great job of presenting them. There were some old classics that are always good for a laugh, and some original ones that demonstrated a lot of thought and creativity. What a great way for the Den 8 Wolf Cubs to introduce themselves to the pack!

Awards

Welcome and congratulations to new Bobcats George K., Will H., John H. and Ian E. They are now started on the Cub Scout trail, and I am sure they will be fine members of Pack 6.

medal  Five boys in Den 7 earned a Readyman badge: Conrad F., Nikolos K., Andy O., Gaurav S. and Jacob S.. In Den 1, Jimmy B., Kevin R., Zachary R., and Tim D. earned Readyman. Justin S. earned Readyman, Outdoorsman and Scientist, Seth D. earned Readyman, Outdoorsman, Handyman and Engineer, and Ian H. earned Readyman and Engineer. These Webelos are really working hard and should be quite proud of their accomplishments. Readyman is a very important badge: it covers first aid and other safety-related skills that people associate with Scouts.

Scouting for Food

Thank you to every Cub Scout and parent who helped with this year's food drive. This is our biggest service project of the year. It is a great opportunity for the boys to make a real contribution to our community. They made it easy for other people to help those who are less fortunate than us. Our pack collected 1582 pounds of food! That should be enough to help several families make it through the winter without going hungry.

Field Trip to Foothills Park

We had beautiful weather for this trip. We heard a talk from the ranger about deer and other park animals. Then we flew the Air Hog a few times, and Rick D. got a chance to demonstrate his tree-climbing skills to fetch it. After a final flight we had a nice hike, enjoyed by all the boys. Thanks to Alex B. for arranging this trip.

Joke of the Month

Q: How did the Cub Scout survive on the desert island with nothing but a calendar?
A: He ate the dates and sundaes from the calendar, then went to the beach and ate the sand which is (sandwiches) there.
