Arrow of Light Ceremony

We had a very nice meeting at the Lucie Stern Fire Circle, with skits, a song, a game and a graduation ceremony for our Webelos 2. Alexandre G., Ariel T. and Andrew S. all got their Arrow of Light awards and joined Boy Scout Troop 5. Congratulations! I was also very happy that all the paper was in the trash cans and cleanup was easy. Thanks, Cub Scouts.

The three graduating Webelos each got Family Member, Showman and Handyman activity badges. Jimmy B. got his Handyman Webelos activity badge, Zachary H. got his Readyman badge, and Ian H. got badges for Geologist and Fitness. Joshua M. and Barbara M. together earned both pins and letters for Math. Great job!

Pinewood Derby

What an awesome day! David H. did a fantastic job of organizing this year's derby, although his car wasn't able to finish. Congratulations to all the Scouts. I was proud of all the wonderful cars I saw and was very pleased at the good sportsmanship. Stay tuned for news of the Disctrict Championships.

Onizuka Air Station

Thanks to Scott W. for arranging this very interesting field trip. We were among the first 100 people to be able to tour the famous "Blue Cube" and learn all about the Air Force Space Command Network. We got to go inside one of the control rooms, saw their racks of encryption computers, and got briefed on all their different operations.

Family Campout

The turnout was small because of the threatening weather forecast, but those hardy souls who showed up had a good time. We had a nice campfire with songs, smores, and scary stories. In the morning we warmed up with hot cocoa and pancakes. Thanks to Henry W. for arranging the trip, and thanks to the soggy few who attended.
